Death is more universal than life, everyone dies but not everyone lives. A. Sachs

This memorial website was created to remember our dearest Myrna Jo Thackrey who was born in United States on September 3, 1937 and passed away on December 24, 2025. You will live forever in our memories and hearts.

Myrna Jo was born Myrna Jo Black in Utah, but her parents (Myrna and Grover Black) decided to move Great Falls, Montana at a young age.  She spent all of her youth in Great Falls.  After High School Jo attened the University of Montana in Missoula, Montana.  There she met Gary Gatza, and after graduation married.  Gary attended ministry school later became an Episcopol Priest.  They later divorced after having two children (Gene and Anne).  Jo by then had moved to Rome , New York raising two children, worked at the local High School as a Music and Drama instructor.

Years later she remarried Don Thackrey, moving to Southern California; then to northern Cal. at Lake Oroville; then to Woodland, Ca.  Husband Don passed and Jo, after selling her home, traveled and lived in an RV, visiting family. Then  finally settled down at Acacia Glen Senior Apartments, where she cared for a dear friend, who passed away in 2024.

Jo met Jess Foglesong on "Christian Mingle" website, and they hit it off immediatedly.  They married a few months later, then did a whirlwind cross (USA) country trip visiting family and friends -- a two month excursion.  After that fabulous trip Jo and jess settled in at Acacia Glen until Jo awas diagnossed with "Severe Aortic Stenosis" which eventually weakend her heart in Deciember 2025, and with Jess and her son and daughter by her side, was excorted by an Angel to be taken by her hand with the Christ Jesus, into the glorious gates of heaven ... to live on forever and ever.

Jo was an amazing human being, who touched so many lives for the good.  Her sweet, loving and positive character radiated to all she came into contact with.  Her friends at Acacia Glen Senior Living Community loved and adored her.  May she live on safe, comfortable and free ... with angels, family and friends in heaven.

Including here are many of Jo's Condolences from her an Jess' facebooke page:
